The International Competition has the goal of proposing the best recent film production of fantastic cinema to an audience composed of students between 6 and 19 years of age.
Feature films and short films presented in the Competition have been selected through the double channel of the public call and films invited by the Artistic Direction. Among the almost 800 submissions that the Festival has received from directors worldwide, Visioni Fantastiche aims at selecting, for each jury of students, films suitable for their age excellently representing today’s fantastic cinema.
There are five categories of the Competition, corresponding to different ages of the students who will watch and vote the films:
INTERNATIONAL FEATURE FILM COMPETITION
AWARD: THE LABYRINTH. The 5 feature films presented within the Competition categories (1 for category) will be competing for a single award to Best Film, that will be assigned to the film most voted by its corresponding jury. Being the Festival in Ravenna, whose mosaics are part of the Heritage of Humanity, it seemed inevitable to think of a Mosaic Award. The Award will be representing the labyrinth built on the churchyard of Ravenna’s Basilica di San Vitale. Magic element par excellence, the labyrinth will be one of the three elements, along with Byzantine mosaics and Basilica di San Vitale, that are going to inspire young mosaicists, coordinated by a professionist, in the realisation of the artwork connected to the International Feature Film Competition.
INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM COMPETITION
For each of the 5 Competition categories, the short film most voted by the jury will receive an award for Best Short Film, consisting of a cash prize of 200,00€.
